Our Sea Freight Service
At Maits Services Ltd, we offer sea freight — the transportation of goods in containers from the UK to Nigeria. Sea freight is the most cost-effective method for large or heavy shipments and is ideal for household goods, furniture, vehicles, and commercial cargo.
Transit Time: Approximately 4–6 weeks from vessel sailing date.
Drop-off & Collection
We can arrange collection from your address, or you can deliver your goods directly to our Purfleet warehouse during opening hours. Upon arrival, goods will be repackaged (if necessary, for a surcharge), measured, weighed, and booked onto the next available sailing. An invoice will then be issued.
Payment Terms
Once an invoice is issued, payment is expected prior to the vessel sail date. We accept bank transfer and other agreed payment methods.
FCL vs LCL
- FCL (Full Container Load) — you book an entire container, ideal for large volumes
- LCL (Less Container Load) — your goods share a container with others, ideal for smaller volumes
The total weight of LCL cargo should not exceed 1 tonne (1,000 kg).
How We Bill — CBM (Cubic Metre)
We bill freight on the basis of volume, measured in CBM (Cubic Metres). CBM is calculated as:
CBM = Length (m) × Width (m) × Height (m)
Example: A box 0.5m × 0.4m × 0.3m = 0.06 CBM
Packing & Insurance
The packaging of goods is the sender's responsibility. However, we can help repackage goods for a charge. Please note that a consignment is not automatically insured — ensure you have valid insurance in place for the full value of your goods before shipping.
